The Malvasia is fermented in stell and the Carricante is aged in neutral oak for six months with lees contact and frequent stirring. This wine opens to a perfumed set of aromas with lavender, honey and peach blossom. There is a strong mineral vein at the back that very much reflects the idea of pumice stone after which this wine takes its inspiration. The mouthfeel is soft, medium-bodied and generous. Rated 92 Points by the Wine Advocate.
2014 Nero Ossidiana: 70% Corinto Nero and 30% Nero d’Avola. Long fermentation with grape skins and some whole grapes. Secondary fermentation is neutral oak barrels. then aged for about 8 months. “Deep red-ruby color. Inky plum, blackcurrant and savory spices are complicated by minerals and fresh flowers on the nose. Silky, juicy and deep, conveying a restrained sweetness and outstanding finesse to its apple, plum and mineral flavors. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and repeating notes of minerals and herbs.” 90 Points - Vinous Media
2016 Malvasia delle Lipari (375ml): A specialty of the island! 95% Malvasia and 5% Corinto, grown on steep terraces on the southern part of the island at 350m. Grapes are dried on mats in the sun for 2 weeks before destemming, crushing, and fermenting in oak until the sugar blocks the fermentation. Aromas of apricot and peach freshened by notes of lime and aromatic herbs. Enters rich, dense and sweet then turns livelier thanks to harmonious, bright acidity that leaves a lingering fresh mouthfeel redolent in notes of honeyed peach and lemon drop.
