100% organic Aglianico. Sometimes referred to as the "Barolo of the South," Aglianico might just be the best "unknown" red grape of Italy. Capable of producing robust, intensely-flavored reds for near-term drinking as well as majestic, ageworthy wines on par with the best of Italy's more famous reds. Fans of Italian reds will LOVE these wines. Cab lovers too!
This wine captures all that this unique grape has to offer - but in a style meant for more immediate appeal. The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in perforated boxes, rushed to the nearby wine cellar and meticulously de-stemmed. The must is fermented and briefly macerated in stainless steel tanks. It is aged in steel and minimally in 2-3 year old barrels, for a total of ten months.
The color is ruby red with purple hues. It is characterized by an intense aroma of violets, dried rose, red fruits, black cherry and typical herbaceous varietal notes. The taste is concentrated, soft, with a pleasantly long and spicy finish.
Ideal for grilled meats, hearty soups and pasta dishes, vegetable lasagna, and medium-aged cheeses.
