2019 Chateau Ducasse Blanc

One of our most popular whites from one of our favorite importers, Kermit Lynch. This Bordeaux Blanc appeals to just about everyone. A Classic Italian Rosé! Corvina/Rondinella blend from the Veneto. Organic. Grapes are soft pressed. Wine is fermented and aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Spends four months on the fine lees prior to bottling. Great bang for your buck!

Tasting Notes
Light orange. Ripe citrus fruits, cherry and subtle herb and floral nuances on the nose. Silky and open-knit, offering pliant, spice-laced raspberry, bitter cherry and orange flavors that linger nicely. Shows good breadth on the finish, which leaves bitter herb and cracked pepper notes behind.

Food Pairing
The juicy citrus generosity makes this a wine that’s fine without food, but dishes with herbal summer flavors would be delightful partners. Simple appetizers (think prosciutto and melon), salads (Caprese anyone?), grilled veggies, roasted chicken, fish tacos, burgers (hold the BBQ sauce), pasta with light sauces, simply prepared grilled meat...veggie or meat skewers...

Lateral

Lateral was inspired by St. Emilion wines in the heart of Bordeaux, and influenced by the interplay and tension created between Merlot and Cabernet Franc.  Proprietor Marty Mathis, whom you might recognize from his high-scoring Kathryn Kennedy wines, decided to showcase how each of these two iconic grapes can harmonize to complement yet contrast each other, in a way that’s different from other Bordeaux style blends.  He’s done so with carefully sought-out vineyards, primarily located in Coombsville, Carneros, and Yountville, and his 2014 is showing stunning delineation, depth and focus. Underlining notes of spice box, crushed black cherries, chocolate mint and rose buds leave a long lasting impression.
