Richard’s “entry-level” Chard. 100% Chard from 4 estate vineyards. The grapes were whole cluster pressed directly into French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for fermentation. After fermentation the tank-fermented wine was put into barrels. The barrels were then topped up and aged on their lees. During the aging process they were occasionally stirred and underwent complete malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 7 months in French oak, 20% new.

100% organic Cortese from hillside vineyards in the Gavi commune, with high calcareous and chalk content. This is the classic, white soil Gavi is famous for. Fonzone Fiano di Avellino  

100% Fiano. The grapes are hand-picked and carefully transported to the winery in small perforated crates, then they are selected and softly pressed. The fermentation is carried out at low temperature and lasts for about a month. The wine is aged in stainless steel for five months, with periodical bâtonnage (stirring of the lees). Straw yellow color with green hues, is characterized by delicate floral and fruity aromas reminiscent of citrus, orange blossom, lime, almond paste. The taste is fresh and balanced, viscous and very persistent.

Lateral was inspired by St. Emilion wines in the heart of Bordeaux, and influenced by the interplay and tension created between Merlot and Cabernet Franc.  Proprietor Marty Mathis, whom you might recognize from his high-scoring Kathryn Kennedy wines, decided to showcase how each of these two iconic grapes can harmonize to complement yet contrast each other, in a way that’s different from other Bordeaux style blends.  He’s done so with carefully sought-out vineyards, primarily located in Coombsville, Carneros, and Yountville, and his 2014 is showing stunning delineation, depth and focus. Tenuta di Castellaro "Nero Ossidiana"  

90% Corinto Nero 90% and 10% Nero d’Avola. Organic. From the tiny volcanic island of Lipari off the north coast of Sicily. Grapes are hand-harvested. The de-stemmed grapes are fermented using the yeasts naturally present on the grapes, with a long maceration of the wine with the skins. After devatting, the wine is decanted to barrels for the malolactic fermentation. About a year later, it is transferred into a steel tank. No clarification is done, just static decanting before the bottling. Deep red-ruby color. Inky plum, blackcurrant and savory spices are complicated by minerals and fresh flowers on the nose. Medium-bodied. Silky, juicy and deep, conveying a restrained sweetness and outstanding finesse to its apple, plum and mineral flavors. Finishes with fine-grained tannins and repeating notes of minerals and herbs.

Tyler Santa Barbara Pinot Noir  

100% Pinot Noir sourced from Bien Nacido (1973), Dierberg Drum Canyon Vineyard (1999). Mostly destemmed to various size open-top fermenters; native fermented. Macerated on skins for two weeks before being pressed to tank, and then down to almost all natural barrels. Racked after 12 months to tank and bottled, unfined, unfiltered.

Zorzettig Refosco  

100% Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. Hand-harvested, totally destemmed, and fermented at 24C. Pomace is pressed and wine is left to settle in steel, then bottled. Peduncolo Rosso translates to "Refosco with the red stems" because the stems or stalks of the clusters turn red when the grapes ripen. This is widely regarded as the top quality sub-variety of this varietal. The wines have impressive dark fruit intensity (plum, blackberry), with notes of violets, pepper, forest floor, almond skin and are laced with minerality and tart acidity.
